ROB WILSON
ILLUSTRATOR AND GRAPHIC DESIGNER
September 2023
Meet Rob. This New Yorker—by way of Texas—is not just an uber-talented illustrator and graphic designer (you’ve seen his work at Todd Snyder, The Wall Street Journal and more), even more so, he’s a prescient observer and thoughtful documenter of the world around him. You might have first noticed his drawings during the pandemic, where his signature hand captured so eloquently those moments we all experienced—the wit, the pathos, the frustration—in one single Instagram post. From his drawing we get to see the world through his eyes, now let’s take a moment and get to know the man behind the pens, shall we?

Who are you?
Rob Wilson. NYC-based designers, artist & illustrator, seventh-generation tall Texan.
What’s on your mind?
A movie I watched, a book I just finished, an art exhibition.
Where are you right now?
At a coffee shop in the West Village.
Who are your heroes?
I find inspiration in the work of many creative people. The ones I admire are those who share their abundance of talent with a spirit of generosity and humor.
Why do you do what you do?
All I've ever wanted to do is draw, read and travel. So I keep doing it.
What’s your favorite thing to draw?
Anything that I find especially funny. Or something that I can give new context to without overthinking it, and do it quickly with a few lines on paper.
What’s your favorite thing to eat?
Dallas = Tacos (Taco Deli/Taco Joint/Velvet Taco)
NYC = Pizza (I'm promiscuous with my pizza)
Milan = Gelato (Gelateria Solferino)
Bologna = Pasta (Cesari)
