Five Spice Honey

This recipe is so easy and the results are so delicious you’ll want to put it on everything. In essence, it's a 5-second caramel hack that will result in a glossy, deep amber colored sauce that's perfect for drizzling. Five Spice powder is a Chinese spice blend of cinnamon, fennel seed, star anise, sichuan peppercorn and clove. The mix is warm, mellow with a balance of all five tastes: sweet, sour bitter, salty and umami. That balance can take it a lot of places. So try it on everything! Spread it on toast, drizzle it on apple pie, on a stack of pancakes… the only limit is your imagination!

INGREDIENTS

¼ cup honey
1 tsp five spice

METHOD

Combine honey and five spice in a small bowl. Serve with ice cream, waffles, drizzle on pie, vegetables…anything!
