Five Spice Blood Orange Cranberry Sauce
Cranberry sauce is a quiet, but key, player on a Holiday dining table— it provides brightness and acidity to balance out all the other rich flavors on your plate. I’ve bumped up the flavor factor with five spice, a touch of miso and the zing of blood orange.
Makes 3 cups
INGREDIENTS
12 oz. fresh cranberries
2 blood oranges, zested and juiced
½ cup water
½ cup brown sugar, packed
2 tsp five spice
2 tbsp white miso
1 tsp lemon zest
½ tsp kosher salt
METHOD
Combine all ingredients to a pot, except for fruit zest. Cook over medium heat for 7-10 minutes. Stir in orange and lemon zest and allow to cool. Can be made up to a week in advance and stored in an airtight container in the fridge. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
